I first came across this idea from British psychiatrist Professor Steve Peters in his brilliant 2012 book, “The Chimp Paradox”:
Imagine that you are 100 years old. You have only one more minute left before you die.
Your great granddaughter asks you:
“What I should do with my life?”
Pause and take the next one minute to answer this question.
Remember: You only have one minute. Continue only after you have answered the question.
It will show you what’s truly important to you. And it will point you to your true north, the true purpose of your life.
